Some PostScript files have a title embedded inside the file. To use the embedded title as the job name, select Use Title from File. Otherwise choose Use File Name.

A PostScript SeparationIndividual layer of a multi-color image. Each layer contains the amount of each primary color needed to produce a four-color image when layers are superimposed on each other. File is a format that has separate data for each color channel. There may be a single file or several different files (one for each color channel). Configuring the options for PostScript Separation Files allows RIP-QueueAn organized list of jobs that are printed on a first-in first-out (FIFO) basis. to correctly process these files.

 

To configure the PostScript Separations Options:

1. From the PostScript File tab, enable the Separation File checkbox.
2. Choose the type of separations from the Color Separations drop-down menu.
3. If necessary, modify the number of Spot Separations.
4. Choose the ColorThe attribute of visual experience that can be described using the dimensions of Hue, Saturation, and Brightness. Order of the PostScript File. If you do not know the color order, check the original PostScript file using the application it was created with. You can manually modify the Color Order by selecting Custom and using the Move Up and Move Down buttons.

 

NOTE: The PostScript Separations options must be configured properly for the image to process correctly. Non-separated PostScript files will cause PostScript errors during processing when the Separation File checkbox is selected. When using quick sets in RIP-Queue only set PostScript Separation Quick Set options if you will always use separated PostScript files of the same separation format with the Quick Set.

In order for spot colors to be interpreted as cut paths, the name of the spot colors in the PostScript files must be defined in the Use Cutter Path Prefix Option. The name entered in the Use Cutter Path Prefix field must have a prefix identical to the name of the spot colors in the file. For example, if CutContour was entered in the Use Cutter Path Prefix field, spot colors named CutContour1, CutContour2, and so on would be converted into cut paths. However, spot colors named 1CutContour, 2CutContour, and so on would not be converted.

 

In RIP-Queue you also have the option of enabling Add PDF Trim Box to Cut Paths. This option works only with PDF files and creates a cut path around the image according to the border of the PDF.

When the Auto-detect separations option is activated, the following information is automatically detected for separation files: 

• Color Separations
• Spot Separations
• Color Order

When the Auto-replace Spot Colors option is activated, defined colors in the Spot Channel Replacement dialog are referenced first. If spot colors have not been defined in the Spot Channel Replacement dialog, the spot color information defined on the PostScript File tab is referenced. Spot colors within files can be converted to various color spaces for printing on printers with different ink configurations. For example, the spot colors in a CMYKSS file can be converted to CMYKSystem for describing colors based on a combination of values for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black; the ink colors used in four-color process printing. In theory, 100% of Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow create Black. In practice, the addition of Black ink is necessary to print a true Black. See also RGB. so the file can be printed correctly on a CMYK printer. 

 

NOTE: If the Auto-replace Spot Colors checkbox is left unchecked, the defined colors in the Spot Channel Replacement dialog will not be referenced.
